Hosted VoIP Compare – FAQs

Need questions answered about our Hosted VoIP Compare service? Want to better understand what hosted VoIP phone systems for business are all about? Here are commonly asked questions:

What is hosted VoIP/cloud VoIP?

Hosted VoIP, also known as cloud VoIP, is another term for a Hosted phone system. “Hosted” means that the hardware for the phone system is hosted at an off-site location in the cloud so there is no physical phone system on site where the VoIP telephone service is being used. This means no more expensive on-site phone system boxes ever again which traditionally you would have to invest in and maintain!

Why are so many small-medium businesses going for a hosted VoIP phone solution?

Since your hosted VoIP provider handles everything from hardware and software repairs to general upkeep and maintenance, you have a lot more freedom to focus on your key business areas, not to mention the significant cost savings you can benefit from and the many features on offer.  It is also important to note that traditional ISDN lines are being phased out and from 2020 you will no longer be able to order these types of lines with a target switch off date of 2025.  This is because the technology is outdated as is the associated maintenance and running costs of this type of system, it makes sense to update our telecoms to newer technology such as VoIP and now is the time to make the move.

Ultimately it is a very cost-effective, flexible and feature rich solution; no wonder it has become such a popular choice among small and medium-sized businesses alike.

Is there anything else I need to ensure I get optimal performance from my VoIP business phone system?

All you will need is a stable internet connection and you’re good to go. If you would like more than 10 phones, we would recommend a separate internet connection just for the phones. Alternatively, you can buy a business grade router which can be set up to prioritise VoIP calls over Internet browsing and emails for example. We can supply you with an internet connection or router if required and advise you based on what internet speed is available in your area.
